Aimhigher
Aimhigher is about encouraging young people to take what they enjoy doing and build it into a career through Higher Education.
Aimhigher was set up to support the Government’s drive to widen participation in Higher Education, enabling a greater proportion of young people under 30 who come from traditionally under represented groups to access a Higher Education opportunity.
Students come from all kinds of backgrounds including families that have no prior experience of going to university.
On average, those with a Higher Education qualification earn 50% more than those who don’t.
If you are considering studying for a degree or diploma while on an Apprenticeship, Lancashire Student Services can provide advice and support to help you on your way!

Lifelong Learning Networks (LLNs) were introduced by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) to create progression routes and progression agreements into and through higher education (HE) for vocational learners in identified vocational sectors. Lancashire LLN is a partnership of 5 universities (HEIs), 12 further education colleges (FECs), the Lancashire work based learning forum and Aimhigher Lancashire. The overall objective for LLNs is to improve the coherence, clarity and certainty of progression opportunities for vocational learners into and through higher education.
The WBL Forum became a member in May 2009 and has its own Progression Champion who aims to support the development of collaborative approaches to curriculum development and employer engagement; and contribute to the development and sharing of good practice regarding approaches which will enhance progression opportunities for apprentices from a range of backgrounds.
