Creating more Apprenticeships in the public sector is a target in the Lancashire Local Area Agreement; a collaboration between partners to provide better services to the people of Lancashire. In achieving more opportunities for apprentices, the public sector can offer young people the chance to gain valuable work experience and qualifications whilst they get paid to work in their chosen field; and public sector employers can benefit from working with better trained and more motivated staff.

The Public Sector provides a great opportunity for apprentices to embark on a range of career options. From Education to Environmental Services, Horticulture to IT, Nursing to Engineering – an Apprenticeship programme within the public sector can offer young people a choice of areas in which to gain qualifications, as well as on the job knowledge and relevant, practical skills.
