Matthew Wadsworth

Previous student at All Hallows Catholic High School, Penwortham

“I started a Business Apprenticeship, working at Lancashire County Council, straight after leaving school. I always knew that I wanted to do an Apprenticeship but I wasn’t sure what industry I wanted to work in. When I was in year 11, my school held taster sessions and night classes for us to try out the different industry sectors. Connexions also came into school once a week, providing a careers guidance service. It was this advice and guidance that helped me to decide to pursue a career in business and to apply for the Apprenticeship at Lancashire County Council. I am really enjoying my job here. My job involves a range of admin duties, attending meetings as well as studying for my Level 3 NVQ qualification.

“I would definitely recommend an Apprenticeship to anyone at school who is deciding what to do next. I knew I didn’t want to go on to college and this gives me the chance to gain on-the-job training, a qualification and get paid! I’ve got the best of all worlds.”
