Katie Taylor, from Darwen, has got her career in accountancy all figured out thanks to an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Apprenticeship from Blackburn based training provider, Training 2000. Having recently been ranked 22nd in the world for her Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) audit examination results, Katie is proof that with an Apprenticeship, the sky really is the limit!

Having achieved four AS Levels at college, Katie felt she needed a change from traditional classroom learning. Set on a career in accountancy, an Apprenticeship allowed her to complete a Level 3 AAT qualification whilst gaining hands on experience at work.

Katie currently works for Blackburn based accountants, Egan Roberts. She comments, “It was thanks to Training 2000 that I got my first job in the accounting sector, through their contacts with local employers they were able to find a firm that matched my training needs.”

“The great thing about training whilst working is that you are learning new skills every single day, as well as having a better understanding of the job you are undertaking.”

Katie has since moved on to complete her AAT Level 4 and is keen to continue studying for further qualifications, she concludes, “Many of my friends chose to go to university, but I have found that through my on-the-job training not only have I gained the qualifications I need, I’ve also gained hands on experience and earned a wage. Something which I think stands me in good stead for my career in the future.”
