Sam works at The David Thomas Salon in Preston Town Centre. She started working there after leaving Leyland St Mary’s Catholic Technology Centre and has completed her Hairdressing NVQ Level 2 progressing onto a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.

Sam has always wanted to be involved in training other Hairdressers passing on her knowledge & skills and on completing her Level 3, enrolled on the A1 Assessors award and the ‘Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Learning Sector’ (PTLLS) course which she has now achieved.

Sam is now hoping to start on the Cert Ed Course. She is a key staff member in the salon carrying out teaching, training and assessing to the other apprentices employed at the Preston Salon and other David Thomas Franchises as part of their in house training programme and is supported by Preston College tutors, assessors and internal verifiers.

Sam says “With my employer David Thomas I decided on an Apprentice career pathway with Preston College and I have found it interesting & enjoyable. Learning new things has enabled me to be more creative and now I have progressed to the stage where I am helping train other Apprentices.”
